For a spectacular view of the surrounding city and the distant Alps, climb to the top of St. Peter's Church. This is the oldest church in the inner city. It was built during the Romanesque period on the site of an ancient monastic settlement. The building suffered extensive fire damage in 1327 and was expanded and re-consecrated in 1368. In the early 17th century, the 92 m (302 ft) spire received its Renaissance steeple top. A new Baroque choir was also added. Inside, look at the high altar for the figure of Saint Peter, created by sculptor Erasmus Grasser. Among other masterpieces, you'll find five Gothic paintings by artist Jan Polack and ceiling frescos by painter Johan Baptist Zimmermann. • Looking at it from the outside you can't help but be impressed. Going inside is a big disappointment compared to some of the other churches in nearby countries.

  • A very beautiful church - well worth a visit. We did not climb the tower - simply admired the interior with its paintings and statues.

  • Now in Germany, traveling around places to see 😉😘 St. Peter's Church is a beautiful church in central old town part of Munich with lots of shops and restaurants around.Besides the 14 stations of the Cross images, alongside them also presents the miraculous birth of Christ. Truly interesting and astounding. Definitely worth a visit or prayer in it.
  • Lovely church in the centre of Munich. The views of the city from the top of the tower were amazing, definitely worth €5 and the 300+ step climb up! I heard that it gets quite busy, so I went first thing in the morning and it was quiet. Don't forget to see the inside of the church itself, it's beautiful and free.
