My husband and I came here mostly to look at examples of traditional architecture in the Wendland, since we just bought an old barn. The museum shop had a nice selection of local artisan goods you can easily spend a lot of money, and the gastropub next door to the museum has a good buffet with good vegetarian options so food is covered. My only point is that I think they could have more community activities here. There’s an orchard at the back, and they could have other initiatives to engage the younger generation and locals. Still definitely worth a visit though!

Fantastic! Wonderful homes and buildings in a beautiful setting. Very good information about the history and origins and life in a circular village. Some buildings have air conditioning, which was nice in the warm weather. The museum shop has a great range of very stylish and high-quality little things. The service is very friendly, competent and empathetic. The open-air museum is recommended!
