Create an itinerary including Schloss Stolzenfels
Originally constructed in 1259 and perched above the Rhine River, Schloss Stolzenfels is a classic castle in a fairytale setting. The fortress' ornate architecture is the result of several iterations and reconstructions over the past eight centuries. The neo-Gothic-style towers and battlements were intended to represent an archetypal medieval structure. Hike your way up a winding, sign-posted path to the castle's seat, and explore both the grounds and the luxurious interior through a guided tour. Don't miss the sweeping view of the surrounding valley and city of Koblenz. • After walking a windy road leading up the mountain, you reach this fairytale castle with a gorgeous view of the river. We explored the castle and thoroughly enjoyed it. What you see in the castle isn't ancient, but still very interesting. Parking garage is at the foot of the mountain and is easy to find and is at a reasonable price.
  • Very pretty castle overlooking the Rhein under active restoration. The road leading up to the castle was closed for cars, but there is parking just at the base and it is a gorgeous walk. Self-guided tours of the interior rooms are available for five euros and take about 20 minutes.
