The 19th-century Liberation Hall monument commemorates the victories against Napoleon during the Wars of Liberation. Admire the statues crowning the buttresses of the facade, allegories of Germanic tribes. They number 18 to represent the date of the Battle of the Nations at Leipzig (Oct. 18, 1813). Inside, you can read the dictum by King Ludwig I, which is embedded into the marble floor. Make sure to spend time taking in the superb views that the hilltop location provides. • This cultural landmark is amazing. I don't know why it isn't better known. It's imposing but also elegant. Make the time to take the stairs to the gallery level for a different view of the interior. We couldn't access the exterior walkway, but normally you can. There currently isn't any real information about the hall inside but the gift shop has free brochures and there are a few signs with information in German and English on the path to the monument. Road construction affects access right now (you either walk or, on weekends/holidays you take a shuttle). This is well worth the effort to get there. Impressive inside and out.
  • This place is amazing. Modelled on the Pantheon in Rome. If you can climb stairs go to the top the views are amazing
