Goethe House is the author's birthplace. The house was built in wooden-fronted medieval style in 1600. In 1755, Goethe's father completely remodelled it. The home was destroyed during the war but was rebuilt and opened in 1952. A magnificent staircase connects the floors. The top floor features an exhibit on the home's history and its residents; next, a floor with the room where Goethe likely was born, as well as his sister's bedroom; below that, a music room; and finally the entrance hall and kitchen. Consider using the audio guide as you tour the building. Inspirock's itinerary builder makes planning a Frankfurt trip simple and quick.

  • Not only was it Goethe's house, but it is also a good example of middle-class home interiors that aren't as easy to find as 18th c. royal interiors.

  • Museum dedicated primarily to Gothe and a few related romantic poets, writers, and artists. Home tour is fun and informative. Museum has many works across various mediums available, and an incredible array of first person writings, such as letters and manuscripts. Several items get into personal relationships among the various artists and give a fuller portrait of them as individuals.
  • Everything inside is impressive and furniture is amazing also. Great to visit here and being able to feel like old times and where Goethe got his first inspirations. The garden and the furniture are well preserved, I like the kitchen and the sealed topfloor stairs. Each room is unique with different paper walls and a heating system which makes you feel the family had a warm cozy house. The sets of tea service just 👌🏻🌟
