Musee du president Jacques Chirac, Sarran

Musee du president Jacques Chirac houses a collection of more than 200 gifts given to the French president while conducting official duties around the world. The gifts, which came from all across the globe, are organized by geopolitical zone and labeled according to who provided the gift, the nation and culture from which the gift came, and the occasion on which the gift was received. Maps, contextual explanations, and geographical descriptions of the countries accompany the displays. A large mural depicts state visits that France has received and made starting in 1995. The garden level hosts a series of thematic exhibitions and contains the museum archive, which holds another 3,000 gifts that are part of the permanent collection.
