Abbaye de Saint-Guilhem-le-Desert, a Benedictine Abbey founded in 804 CE, is an official historical monument with notable architecture. The porch of the church dates from the 12th century, and the bell tower was constructed in the 15th. The nave is taller than the average church nave, with four bays, double arches, and supporting pilasters. The nave and two aisles feature a semicircular, barrel vaulted design. Admire the relieving arches on the side walls. The well-preserved, ornate Altar Guilhem is in its original condition, with white marble and black limestone inlaid with multicolored glass paste. The lapidary features decorative columns and statues, as well as the marble tomb of the founder of the abbey and other sarcophagi. • Lovely old middle age town, you feel the history and fait when walking around, absolutely worth visiting. The downside is the parking. It is spacious and with a public toilet. You get 20 mins free but then the minimum parking duration is 2 and half hours costing 5 euros. There is no options for shorter duration.
  • A stone village set in a valley an amazing discovery, you can also do canoing and stroll around the village lots of artisanal shops would recommend for a day outing, abbey is also a good place to chill up
