Create an itinerary including Chateau des Ducs de Bretagne
You'll recognize the medieval Chateau des Ducs de Bretagne by the bright white tufa stone that glistens in the sky as you approach it. This austere fortress is home to the Nantes History Museum and is the last castle of the Loire before reaching the Atlantic Ocean. Recent renovations allow you to stroll along the inner courtyard, revealing a 15th-century ducal palace in Renaissance style. In sharp contrast with its rough exterior walls, this castle radiates a certain elegance owed to its fine stone carvings. The rampart walk offers a number of viewpoints of the fortress and its interior buildings and across the city. In the grounds, stroll around the moat and surrounding magnolia gardens. You can download a free app with a tour of the castle to your smartphone. • Located in the center of Nantes, the Castle 🏰 of the Dukes of Brittany is one of the most important monuments of the city's heritage. With almost half a mile (500 meters) of walls and the Flamboyant Gothic ducal residence within the walls, the castle forms an impressive ensemble. 😯👌🏻 I recommend to visit this incredible place 🙌🏻🤗
  • Amazing free Chateau to visit in Nantes. The grounds are beautiful and there's a moat with koi, turtles, and ducks swimming. Inside there's a cafe, a museum(need to pay for this), and the ramparts(free). We walked the ramparts and took in some great views of the area. There are a few placards around with some information about the area and the Chateau as well.
