  • A wonderful reserve, full of biodiversity. The lady at the counter was very nice, welcoming and spoke English. Unfortunately the guided tours only available in French but not a big deal. The brasserie next door however is an absolute disgrace and should be avoided. Read the 1-star reviews there and avoid the fake ones. The reserve management should do something about it as it ruins the overall experience
  • As I a serious birdwatcher, I was pleasantly surprised. France's bird population has declined in recent years due to pesticides used in agriculture so its nice to see a place set up for birds to nest and rest. I suggest 6 hours for the whole thing unless you want to rush around. There are little birdwatching cabins set up around the wetland with placards detailing what birds you might see and how to identify them. Large numbers of Godwits, Whimbrels, Spoonbills, Herons, majestic swans, and others. A nice place to take pictures of birds if you have a long lens camera. It closes at 8 pm in summer, so get there earlier in the day if it's not too hot. The price is decent and goes to the park so its not an issue. I had to take a few trains and buses to get there. Train to Gare Le Teich from Bordeaux and you can walk 15 minutes to the reserve.
