Foret de Huelgoat, Huelgoat

#2 of 61 in Nature in Brittany
Must see · Forest · Nature / Park
The softwood forest, Foret de Huelgoat has diverse tree species, including silver fir, Scots pine, and fir Nordmann. The hurricane that devastated the forest in 1987 also allowed the introduction of the new American oak species. You can walk the path to Le Camp d'Artus in the forest, a Celtic camp dating to the first century BCE that attracted the Irish due to the silver mine. Lastly, visit La Roche Tremblante, the humongous 137-ton boulder. Plan my Huelgoat trip by asking Inspirock to come up with tips and suggestions.

  • Cute forest with easy paved circuit. The gigantic stones in the beginning are marvelous to look at. However it is not really well marked so be careful venturing in without a map / Google maps.
  • Moss covered boulders and ancient trees crowd around a little stream. This place is enchanting. If I wanted to be a hermit, this is where I would live. If your in Brittany and enjoy the outdoors then don't miss this Forest.
