Maisy Battery
When the Allies landed at Omaha Beach to liberate France from the Nazis, they had to penetrate Maisy Battery, which housed well-armed German soldiers defending their territory. American Army Rangers took the battery, but at great cost. After the war, the Allies buried the camp and all it contained, virtually intact, for more than 60 years. Today, it's a museum that illustrates the sacrifices both sides made during the war. You can tour the bunker and its tunnels to get a hands-on appreciation for the spot's historical significance and the role it played in the liberation of France. Maisy Battery is just one of the many highlights you can arrange to see using our , online itinerary creator Edition.

Fascinating discovery and quite amazing site. Gives a real in sight into what it was like back in those dark days. Much more to come, so definitely will visit again. Read some of the negative...

What an amazing place! We saw it on Expedition Unknown and when planned a trip to Normandy we knew this was a must! Boy, what a treasure this place is and did not disappoint. The site is interesting to explore and overwhelming to enter the German buildings. DO NOT MISS OUT ON THIS HISTORICAL SITE!

Visited this with my children as we stayed in Grandcamp-Maisy for the week. We all loved it. My son loved seeing all the guns & exploring the tunnels, my daughter loved the bunkers and really dark creepy rooms. The association is still uncovering new tunnels, as everything was restored back to a field after the war. They've found the hospital which can't be visited as the structure is not safe at present. They're also hoping to restore some trenches the exact way they were with planks overhead. There are 2.5km of trenches, bunkers, tunnels to explore today and quite a few cannons, so plan for a good hour. If your children like mazes, don't take the map!
