The permanent collections include masterpieces of German surrealism and expressionism, abstract cubism, and 1980s neo-figurative paintings, with works by Ernst Ludwig Kirchner, Max Beckmann, Edvard Munch, Emil Nolde, Max Ernst, and Pablo Picasso. The museum also hosts concerts, lectures, theatrical performances, workshops, youth visits, and special guided tours with artists in residence. Nice museum of modern art at an industrial area. It also has a nice place to eat. The building is airconditioned. The people are nice, also in the museum shop. If you arrive by train, take the back exit. Then it is a ten minute walk.
