Eglise Saint-Julien, Domfront

What a beautiful church, I walked through the door expecting a nice church but I was taken aback at how amazing it was. My wife was outside with Sox our dog I went straight back out and said to her you have to go and see inside.I am not religious but I do appreciate old architecture, to imagine this was built before any modern tools, something else. You walk through the door and see the huge Jesus in an arch then look up and see the ceiling. Truly great building religious or not. Also I stood there thinking of the people who built it, there lives in those days, there's an old shop front nearby where the wooden boards are still outside where they displayed there goods middle ages.stunning!

A very unusual parish church, very unlike the usual churches of northern France and more reminiscent of an orthodox-style church. Externally dominated by a tall more modern steeple covering an internal octagonal space. The church itself is unique being designed around semi-circular arches. There are many arched side chapels dominated by individual statues and a magnificent mural of Christ behind the altar (have a look at my attached photos). Highly recommended
