Catch some powder at Vallee Blanche, where the snowboards and skis swoosh by fast on the ground  while the aerial tramway swings overhead. If you're a daredevil, then the slopes offer an off-piste vertical descent of 2,700 m (8,858.3 ft). The terrain here is popular due to an open, wild feeling. After you’ve conquered the runs and explored the Mont Blanc massif glacier, stop by the Requin Hut for a hearty meal and drinks. • Wonderful! It is one of the most beautiful and famous glaciers (it is part of the most famous "Mer de glace" ..). It can be done on skis in about 5 hours (preferably with off-piste experience and, perhaps with a guide ....), starting from the Midi Aiguille, at 3842 meters high. The route, in the glacier, between incredible panoramas, can end, with good snow, even in Chamonix or using the Montenvers train.
  • We organized the famous crossing of the Vallée Blanche, a valley at the foot of Mont Blanc in the French Alps which leads up to Chamonix. You can start both from the Italian side in Courmayeur and from the French side from Chamonix. Coming from Italy we opted to go up from Courmayeur. We were accompanied by a mountain guide, which is advisable especially when the weather conditions are not excellent and you risk being (as in our case) almost the only ones to go down. Take the Skyway, a new and fantastic rotating cable car, from which you can observe a magnificent panorama and that brings skiers / mountaineers who cross the glacier to altitude. Upon arrival, the view is breathtaking: a sea of pristine snow (in our case it had snowed the night before and in addition the Chamonix side was closed, which contributed even more to making the place magical given the total absence of others skiers) nestled between mountains that exceed 3,500 meters. You go down in fresh snow admiring the landscape; the slope is never high and gradually decreases as you descend. Halfway there are huge blocks of blue ice that occupy a large part of the valley. Difficult to go inside because there are numerous crevasses. Further downstream, a magnificent canyon carved out of the water with sides of ice (those who cannot get off on skis go on foot). The last part, (a little less characteristic) leads up to a beautiful artificially excavated ice cave. That's the crossroads: if there is a lot of snow, you can continue up to Chamonix by skiing for another 20 minutes. If, on the other hand, there is not a lot of snow (as in our case), there are more than 500 steps uphill to reach a small cable car that takes you to the top of a plateau from where you take a characteristic cogwheel train that crosses the woods and in 20 min. arrives in Chamonix. Of course, when the gondola was built (about 40 years ago) the glacier arrived 70/100 meters higher than the current level, from here those 500 steps that open your quadriceps ...
