Château de Biron bears a history steeped in conflict, having changed hands several times between the 12th and 15th centuries before Charles de Gontaut, duc de Biron, claimed it as his own. The present structure features additions completed over the centuries that make for an interesting ensemble: a 12th-century keep, 16th-century living quarters, a chapel, and vaulted kitchens. Locals purchased the castle in 1978, wanting to restore it. It's currently open to the public for tours--with audio-guides in English available.     Very nice château, with parts dating back to medieval times and some more modern wings. A self guided tour takes an hour or so and is interesting with some incredible views from the battlements...

    We visited off season so had much of the place to ourselves. The scale of Chateau de Biron is impressive and it stands out across the country. There is access to most of the house and the building and interior wont disappoint. Neither will the views from upper levels

    Great Château on top of the hill, very beautiful, wonderful views to and from the castle. Very much worth the visit. There will be stairs
