One of the few places to view the rare steamer duck, Bleaker Island is a bird-watchers paradise boasting 49 identified bird species and 79 different types of plants. Home to an organic sheep and cattle farm, the island draws tourists interested in taking long walks in unspoiled nature and unwinding at sandy beaches, offering picturesque views of the Atlantic Ocean. Take a look at our Mount Pleasant road trip website to schedule your visit to Bleaker Island and learn about what else to see and do during your holiday.

The lodge is brand new, the diner is goos, only it is missing a personal touch. It feels like it is runned as a hotel instead of a nice falkland lodge where the owner/manager is closely involved. btw the owners are great people, we only did not speak them during the days we were there; only at arrivel. The other personal especially from the kitchens seems not to be really interested in the guests and even a request for 2 instead of 1 fried egg was not possible. This is a big difference compared to any other accomodation we visited on the falklands.
