Originally built as storerooms for ammunition, Las Bovedas now house bars, galleries, and souvenir shops. Built between 1792 and 1796, the 23 former dungeons attached to the protective city walls represent the last major construction effort of colonial times. Browse through well-stocked shops selling traditional Colombian merchandise, such as emerald jewelry, hammocks, and Indian textiles. • I suppose good to see an old building repurposed but now just a row of shops in an ornate building. Most of the shops sell the same thing and hassle you to go inside. A shame the history of the place....  more

  • A great place I’m the walled city to purchase souvenirs. Many of the places have similar things - but a few have different options. There is one spot that offers handmade crafts by local artists - each artist has their own cards with information on their items, history of their work and inspiration (picture with the sign Diaspora). Really enjoyed that spot!
  • Cute shops with lots of interesting items like bags, wooden birds, wallets, and other knick knacks. These used to be barracks for soldiers. The sellers outside can be more aggressive and in your face. There's a restroom in shop #3.
