Visit the garrison that became known for crime and debauchery at Kowloon Walled City Park. The attraction occupies the site of the former Kowloon Walled City, a unique peninsula garrison that remained under China's jurisdiction until Hong Kong was ceded to Britain. In 1899 Chinese troops were forced to vacate, leaving the garrison a lawless enclave that became a safe haven for criminals, prostitutes, gangs, and drugs lords hidden in a network of dark alleyways. Eventually, the 30,000 residents were relocated and the grounds reclaimed for a park. A model of the slum's illegally constructed network of buildings can be seen at the park today, surrounded by reclaimed natural beauty amid a peaceful atmosphere. Kowloon Walled City Park is just one of the many highlights you can arrange to see using our , custom trip planner Edition.

  • The park is pleasant enough and even somewhat photogenic. What's special about this particular piece of greenery is of course its past - the famed (or notorious - depending on your perspective...

  • Nice garden with heritages and remain of the Kowloon Walled City, very Chinese garden. Not much children facilities but we had a great time with the kids. Many nice spots for photography. Also a couple spacious area for children to play. A big fish/turtle pond there too. There is a zodiac sign park with the Chinese zodiac signs.
  • Such a lovely garden/park, although it of course have origins as the Kowloon Walled City, it doesn’t rely on that and presents as a lovely park on its own. The park has some gorgeous eastern architecture, and a lot of good information on various bits of history including the walled city. Some wanting if you around the time I’m writing, the top of the park is currently across the road from a construction site so around that area there’s a lot of construction noise. At the bottom of the park, less construction noise but the birds are very noisy and will squawk at you if you interrupt them eating by, god forbid, walking passed them. They’re cute. Very easy walk from either close MTR station, there’s also a nice park next door if you feel like more walking around. Took me about an hour to appreciate all the park had to offer.
