Create an itinerary including Joffre Lakes Provincial Park
Joffre Lakes Provincial Park, with its ice fields and rushing streams, offers an adventure all year long. In summer, the sunlight reflects against the "rockflour" glacial silt of the three lakes, creating wonderful colors. When the lakes freeze during winter, you'll find yourself in the middle of an icy wonderland. Take a hike around the lower, middle, and upper lakes all along the trail, each one more impressive than the last, with the highest one positioned just beneath the glacier. Try mountaineering, but only if have previous experience; otherwise, go fishing or camping. Feel free to bring your pets along, but only on a leash. • The park rangers were very nice and helpful. The path offers some nice views even beside the lakes. There are toilettes at every lake.

  • Amazing back country camping we did but we won't do this again here with 2 & 3 years old plus a couple hundred pounds of foods for 4 days and 3 nights for 5 ppl. My husband almost gave up many times but we kept walking because pretty challenging if you can do it. Worth the hiking up after you see those wonderful lakes but beautiful water. Then breath taking view right up top. I climb up highest point as I can and wow, spectacular view I ever seen. So we think if we go back so just for hiking, not camping anymore. Recommend to visit once, you won't disappoint with those breath taking views
  • This is a stunning lake. First 2 pictures are from the middle lake, 3rd picture is from the lower lake. Each higher lake is more beautiful than the previous. Did not make it to the upper lake. Hike was pretty steep in certain areas. Make sure you have a good pair of shoes, note certain parts are muddy as it was raining the day before. Also pack a bug spray. I took 1.5 hour to go up but bear in mind I made many stops. Coming down was easy, about 45 minutes nonstop. I started the hike before 8am on a Saturday (2 weeks ago) and it was pretty quiet. On our way down, we bumped into many people going up! So do start your hike early.
