Frank Slide Interpretive Centre
Telling the story of Canada's deadliest rock slide, Frank Slide Interpretive Centre provides a sensitive insight into life in the coal mining town, both before and after the catastrophe. On the morning of April 29th, 1903, 110 million tonnes (121 million metric tons) of limestone cascaded down Turtle Mountain and within 100 seconds, ferociously destroyed the eastern edge of Frank, a section of the Canadian Pacific Railway, and the coal mine. Discover the causes, impact, and individual tales of the rock avalanche through a series of dynamic programs and interactive displays, or check out the award-winning audio-visual presentations in the center’s 70 seat, high definition theater. A 1.5 km (0.9 mi) trail through the slide provides a moving, and up close look at nature's fatal power. Use our Frank travel itinerary planner to visit Frank Slide Interpretive Centre on your trip to Frank, and learn what else travelers and our writers recommend seeing nearby.

This is a lovely historic site to visit. It is a natural masterpiece showing the handiwork of God the master creator. Lovely sight and and view, a great place for relaxation and with lots of parking and seats and table for mini family picnic. It's always a delight to be here and connect with nature and hike the trail.
