Z33 Kunstencentrum is an experimental contemporary art and architecture museum in Hasselt, Belgium.
Z33 stands for Zuivelmarkt 33, the former site of the Hasselt Beguinage. Since its acquisition by the Province of Limburg in 1938, the site has fulfilled a cultural function in the city centre in a variety of ways. In 1996, the Provinciaal Museum and the multidisciplinary Centrum voor Kunsten-Begijnhof merged into the Provinciaal Centrum voor Beeldende Kunsten – Begijnhof . In 2002 the centre was renamed Z33. Since then, Z33 has exhibited both contemporary art and architecture through thematic projects.
Z33 often uses its smaller experimental spaces to commission site specific works by notable international artists. Holding larger curated exhibitions in its other building 'Vleugel 58'. Since 2002 Z33 has exhibited artists including:
Atelier van Lieshout,
Z33 also organises and coordinates many of the province of Limburg's cultural institutions, such as FLACC Werkplaats voor Beeldende Kunstenaats, CIAP Art Centre, and the Design Platform Limburg. Add Z33 and other attractions to your Hasselt trip itinerary using our Hasselt planning website.

Lovely spot in the city center. I wish they would have told me that half the museum was closed due to a new exhibit going in before I purchased a ticket. I saw what was on display in about 30 minutes. It wasn’t expensive so there’s that. Nice space. Friendly staff. They have a coat rack for your stuff. Overall a nice outing at I did peak in at the new exhibit they were working on and it looks really cool. Want to go back again for sure.
It costed 5€ for a student ticket, when the rest of the museums in Hasselt cost 3€. This would not have been so bad if half of the museum was closed, so we finished the visit in 20 minutes. Also, it would be nice that the info of the paintings was in English, instead of only depending on the brochure.
