Het Huis van Alijn - The House of Alijn
Visit a museum of things "that never pass" at Het Huis van Alijn - The House of Alijn, which displays artifacts from everyday life in the 20th century. Walk through exhibits showcasing every aspect of life, from birth to death, including a child's room, a wedding service, and a typical funeral service. Take a self-guided tour, where you'll be able to look through a digital photo album, listen to sound-recordings, and delve into film excerpts. Afterward, consider enjoying a plate of local cheese and Belgian beer served by the museum inĀ its small garden. There is a small admission fee, but you can findĀ discounts for certain groups, including students and those over 55. Photography is allowed, so bring your camera. A visit to Het Huis van Alijn - The House of Alijn represents just the start of the adventure when you use our Ghent trip planner to plot your vacation.

The exhibition was set up with a lot of love and attention to detail. I loved the interactive part of it as well where you got to smell and hear and touch parts of the exhibitions. You really get immersed in a previous time and the the texts help you get a better understanding of life back then. For foreigners, everything is translated in the main exhibition in English as well so it is great for locals and Internationals alike. The student discount allowed me to enter for very little money which is always a big plus.
