Dedicated to studying and displaying the work of Rene Magritte, Magritte Museum combines education with exhibits. The collection is one of the largest and most diverse of Magritte's work and took many years, and many donations, to collect. Magritte's paintings, drawings, posters, and advertising work fill the walls with surreal images. These artworks are arranged by period on three floors spanning from 1898 to 1967 and Magritte's later "Enchanted Domain" periods. Your tour ends in a cinema that screens both films inspired by Magritte's work and films he enjoyed. Book tickets online or purchase them when you arrive, but be aware that with a reserved ticket you use the Place Royale entrance, whereas if you are purchasing a ticket, enter from the Rue de la Régence. Consider purchasing a combination ticket that includes all the Royal Museums of Fine Arts of Belgium. Work out when and for how long to visit Magritte Museum and other Brussels attractions using our handy Brussels itinerary maker app.

  • I really liked thr atmosphere in this museum. Low illumination, paintings looked great. One of the best surrealist artists.

  • It's a huge.gallery if Magritte and other artists and exhibits, we spent a good 3 hours there, perfect for when the weather was pouring rain nonstop. The Magritte collection was significant over many floors, however the more known classics are not among the collection. There were more than 7 floors of gallery space and there were 3 different exhibitions at the time.
  • I loved the collection! But the light system wasn't good for the type of paint Magritte used. The lights reflect on the surface and some paints aren't well visible. I think it is also too dark in the rooms. Make it more Magritte style.
