A bizarrely shaped building, Atomium resembles a giant atom. Originally built for Expo 58, Brussels' World Fair in 1958, the landmark now attracts visitors for its impressive views of the capital from above. Designed in the shape of an iron crystal magnified 165 billion times, the building is composed of nine huge stainless-steel spheres measuring 18 m (59 ft) in diameter and connected by steel tubes. Visit the five spheres containing exhibit halls, including one permanent exhibit dedicated to Expo 58. The top sphere offers a panoramic view of Brussels. Learn about the building's history, construction, and renovation on a guided tour. See Atomium and all Brussels has to offer by arranging your trip with our Brussels tour itinerary planning tool.

  • Awesome building, it's amazing see this art work. Inside also should to be a "must to see" item in your life. I'm impressed about how that was built, who had the idea. If you is a chemistry lover, you must to see that. I strongly recommend. In addition to its heritage value, the Atomium is also a cultural place. Over half of the route is dedicated to exhibitions with themes about Belgium and digital arts.
  • A nice building to visit, looks good on the inside, more could be done within each atom as the visit was very quick. Air conditioning would be nice and toilets too. Vending machines would be useful too. There is no warning for epilepsy as there is a lift with flashing lights. Also there is an atom dedicated with the flashing lights and music, again no warning for people who may have epilepsy. The whole visit can be done in less than an hour. A car park would be handy as it’s only street parking.
