Create an itinerary including Museum Mayer van den Bergh
Housing the collection of Fritz Mayer van den Bergh, Museum Mayer van den Bergh was built by the collector's mother to honor her son's life. Renaissance and Gothic artwork covers almost every wall in the patron's house. These include drawings, sculptures, paintings, and applied art from the 14th to the 16th centuries, a period that was an obsession for the collector. Many pieces are religious in nature, since much of the artwork from these early periods was commissioned by the church. Each room also includes carved wood and marble, as well as grand fireplaces and reliefs on the ceilings that give you a lot of nooks and crannies to explore. Don't miss the three Pieter Bruegel paintings depicting medieval daily life. Purchase tickets for the museum upon arrival. You have the option to purchase a discounted combo ticket that includes visits to the Rubens House, or an Antwerp Card, which gives you access to multiple city museums. Using our custom trip planner, Antwerp attractions like Museum Mayer van den Bergh can form part of a personalized travel itinerary.

  • I personally loved it, especially more than Ruben’s house. It was full of old art. The paintings were amazing and beautiful as were the statues. My favorite room was the last one (no spoiler here). As the story emerged and the lightness of the room inspired me and my boyfriend. But it’s more of a preference since that’s my favorite historical period
  • Thoroughly enjoyed this worthwhile visit. Superb collection of Breughel's works. Highly recommended.
