Grossglockner High Alpine Road
Explore the mountains and glaciers on Grossglockner High Alpine Road, Austria's highest surfaced mountain pass, totaling 48 km (30 mi) and reaching heights of 2,504 m (8,215 ft). Connecting Bruck and Heiligenblut and crossing Hohe Tauern National Park, this alpine road will take you through forests and meadows, over cliffs, and into the world of eternal ice. Take time to see some of the numerous waterfalls, and stop at panorama overlooks to snap a few photos. You'll have a chance to hike a range of different nature trails along the way. Two tourist centers with informative displays are available at the site. Make Grossglockner High Alpine Road a part of your Heiligenblut vacation plans using our Heiligenblut day trip website.

What a beautiful road with gorgeous views. We spent the day traveling a loop of the two roads and were not disappointed. Plenty of opportunity to get out and look around. We got mixed up on one...

The highest road of Europe 🇪🇺 Loved it ❤️ Can't explain the pleasure to ride on the top a cafe and the view point is another level beauty. Totally worth it to spend your time with loved ones.. Wish you a happy ride 😊 Drive safe..

One of the most scenic road passes in Europe. Worth to cross or drive only to the highest point with a tunnel. Road is easy to drive, not too step and the toll gate is well organized on a flat section. Actualy the most scenic part is the side road going to Franz Josef Hohe park house and restaurant. From there you can admire the Grossglockner and the shrinking glacier. Parking is free of charge.
