Sitting along the Brisbane River, South Bank Parklands sits in the heart of Brisbane. Towering over the park at 60 m (197 ft), the Wheel of Brisbane Ferris wheel offers you a panorama of the city and its surrounding. When your ride finishes, head to Streets Beach, a manmade beach spreading out over 2,000 sq m (21,500 sq ft) and containing a base of 4,000 cubic meters (5,200 cubic yards) of sand with another 70 tons brought in every summer. Here you can swim in chlorinated fresh water and relax under the shade of a palm tree. Other attractions include the traditionally designed Nepal Peace Pagoda and flowering bougainvillea on the 443 curling steel columns of The Arbour. Numerous restaurants and cafes offer dining options. Arrange your visit to South Bank Parklands and discover more family-friendly attractions in Brisbane using our Brisbane vacation planner.

  • Wonderful area with lots of cafes and restaurants, plus huge lawn areas, artificial beach and pool. Fantastic place to just spend the day, having a picnic or just watching the crowds.

  • AMAZING place for everyone - families, teens, oldies like me etc. The general behaviour of everyone was outstanding - nothing anti social at all. Great eateries around the 'beach'. Lovely safe...

  • I feel whatever neighbourhood you go in Brisbane it’s very appealing and scenic with lots to do. The closer you get to the centre the nicer it is. South Bank is so vast and scenic on its entire path. And the views of the other side are superb! Nice city! πŸ˜ŽπŸ‘
  • A beautiful area next to the river with plenty of attractions including Streets Beach, shops, restaurants or even The Wheel of Brisbane which is not far. The walking routes are all well presented and generally kept quite clean. There's plenty of parking nearby too which is mostly underground in the direct vicinity. Several small parks, BBQ picnic areas, toilet facilities and river views, all nearby within walking distance. A definite place to visit when exploring Brisbane!
