Inside a traditional Albanian house, you'll find the Shkoder Historical Museum, where each room of the house showcases a different aspect of Albanian life. The main reception room is the highlight, with a large relief carved above the fireplace, couches lining the walls, and glass cases protecting traditional costumes. A separate room with a stone floor showcases coins and metal tools. The last communist leader of the country lived in the house. Note that if the museum is not busy, they may lock the door.     The old house is small, but charming. There is a collection of artifacts on the first floor, but minimal signage. Supposedly there is an audio tour, but we couldn't figure it out. A weird side...  more »

    We got a really nice tour with a lot of background information from a guide at the museum, who was a painter himself. The guide really knew what he was talking about and we had some nice talks about.....  more »
